NORTH COAST AND THE FLOWS (THURSO) formerly THURSO WEST CHURCH 

 

A union of five congregations formed the new parish of North Coast and The Flows Church of Scotland. The congregations are Thurso West, Halkirk and Westerdale, North Coast Parish, Altnaharra and Farr with Melness and Tongue. The formation date was 1 April 2025 with a Celebration Service of Union taking place on Saturday 12 April 2025

North Coast and the Flows (Thurso) is a local church working and helping to promote the church of tomorrow by:

  • following and promoting the Word of God;
  • encouraging faith in the community;
  • helping others in time of need;
  • responding to the changing needs of the parish. 

North Coast and The Flows Church of Scotland is part of Clèir Eilean Ì The Church of Scotland in the Highlands and Hebrides

Members of the Worship Group lead our Sunday worship each week.

Choir

Choir practice in Church - Mondays at 2.30pm except July and August.

Social Activities

A series of Summer Coffee Evenings will be held during July.  

Local Care Homes

The Worship Group will be taking services in Pentland View Care home on the following Sundays at 3pm

8 February, 12 April, 14 June, 9 August, 11 October, 13 December

Bayview on 1 March and 6 September

Community  Events

​Gala week Churches Discovery Tour; Inter Church Advent and Easter Services;

Primary School services with Miller Academy including Class Assemblies and visits

Warm Spaces

November through to March:   

Our Church Hall will be open on a Monday from 10.00 to 12.30pm to provide a warm space coffee morning for any members of our community.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available, free of charge. No need to book, just turn up.

Please feel free to bring a book, or puzzle, your knitting, or whatever takes your interest.

Christian Aid

​Donations are collected during Christian Aid week.

Rotary Club  Thurso

Primary School Quiz usually held in the Spring.

Annual Speechmaking event in September.

Practice Interviews are held in November for university applicants and February/March for apprenticeships.
