 Thurso West is a friendly and caring church where all are welcome to join us in traditional but innovative worship.  We are facing all the challenges of the whole Church of Scotland regarding the need to encourage more new and young people within a vibrant community – itself facing a time of change and challenge.

 We need –


·A new Minister.  Our Minister has retired after many happy years with us.


We offer –


·A range of pastoral and social church organisations.


·A church where the talents of people of all ages are encouraged and valued.


·A beautifully and recently refurbished church building, including church hall, kitchen and vestry.


·A modern manse, built in 1962 of traditional construction, with gardens to front and rear.

Choir practice in Church Hall - 7.00 p.m. Mondays except July and August.

​The Choir and the Worship Group are responsible for services in the town's care homes:

​Bayview on 26 February, 30 April, 25 June, 20 August, 15 October, 10 December.

​Pentland View on 26 March, 28 May, 23 July, 17 September, 12 November.


Guild meetings are held at 2.30 p.m. in the Church Hall  on the first and third Thursdays of each month between September and March.

Social Committee

The committee organise many different events throughout the year. A series of Summer Coffee Evenings will be held during July and August.

Dates for this year are 5 July, 12 July, 19 July, 26 July and 2 August 2017

A 'soup and cheese' lunch will be held regularly after the morning service.

Christian Aid

​Donations are collected during Christian Aid week

Rotary Club  Thurso

Annual Speechmaking event with speakers from Thurso High School.

Practice Interviews are held in November for university applicants and February/March for apprenticeships.

Forthcoming events

​Friday 12 May, Piano Recital by Elaine Gould, at 7.30pm. Please come along and support this event in aid of British Red Cross. Entry by donation at the door.
